If you, like me, have heard that you can only sprout sunflower seeds if they are in the shell then I'm here to tell you that is a load of anti-vegan propaganda :P
I buy these for $1.49lb at Fred Meyer w/o shells and if they weren't RAW and ALIVE they wouldn't do this after three days in a wet towel:
And they are DELICIOUS!

Sprouting sunflower seeds?! How cool is that?! Is the technique a lot different than sprouting alfalfa seeds? Do you use a jar? Let me know a little more details about this when you have time!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your blog! :)
I love eating things that I grew myself and sprouts are a great snack.
ReplyDeleteI sprout them the same way I sprout anything else, soak and put in a jar with a cloth cover for draining. Rinse them twice a day and you should have sprouts in 2 or 3 days.
I grew these in a kitchen towel this time, just soak them, then put them in a clean towel and keep it damp, rinse twice a day. you can grow them in a nut milk bag, too, same concept. People do that when traveling, wet seeds in a bag hung from a strap inside your coat and you have food to go :)
