grapes, banana, flax, renew me, e3afa red lettuce 20 oz water
I split it with the man.
10 am
blended salad

I drank it from a glass. I mean a canning jar.
handful of red lettuce
half red bell pepper
half sm green zucchini
1 clove garlic
juice half a lime about 1/4 cup
1/4 tsp cumin
Blend with 20 oz water.
For a blended salad or savory smoothie, pour into glasses and serve. For a raw soup, cut up a 1/4 cup each zucchini and red bell pepper. Put veges chunks in a bowl and pour chilled soup over the veges. Serve.
I'm cleaning the kitchen a bit and sweeping floors. I got two of the bathroom floors, master bath and the laundry bath, they are the ones that get used most. I cleaned off the counter in the kitch and cleaned the dehydrator, wiped down the cupboards and the counter, cleaned all the appliances, blender, FP, juicerator and then I wanted something to eat. Rather than just eat a sweet nanner or make a nanner pudding, I decided to make a soup. I don't need the sugar, really.
I was thinking the other day about what I consider a binge now and how ridiculous it would have seemed a year ago to be calling eating a handful of nuts a binge.
The man bought me a pint of Bliss last week and I am still working on it. I have a scoop before bed if I remember. I rememebered last night. There is one serving left. I considered eating the whole thing to get rid of it but I didn't. I asked the man not to buy it anymore. I don't need another food addiction and that stuff is BETTER than ice cream, any day. I have a can of coconut milk I should try to make some... SEE?!?!?!?!!

I decided to make a raw-ish chocolate cake. Raw-ish because there are rolled oats and rolled oats aren't raw!
I'm freezing this now.

If it comes out ok, I will tell you all about it. Hey, even if it doesn't, I will share my fail with you.
I am going to freeze and then if it comes off of the sheet, I will make frosting to put in the center and freeze it more. I might cut it in smaller slabs to make more layers, who knows?
I just went and looked at it, it's freezing perfectly and comes right off the paper. Yay. Now I just have to make frosting!

Nettles. They are abundant here and a good source of leafy greens (free). I want to eat them.

The tall one on the left is stinging Nettle. Don't touch it when raw, but when cooked, or even when juiced raw, it's fine. That's what I hear, I haven't tried it yet.
This is the best article about harvesting and eating nettles that I have found so far. Does anyone know what the plant next to the nettles is? with the round leaf? I tasted it and it's not bitter. But I don't know what it's called. I need a color photo guide for my area.
From the website:
"To gather nettles for the table, wear gloves. In one hand carry a large paper grocery bag; in the other a pair of pruners or scissors. Nettles from five inches to just over a foot tall are targeted, and the topmost two or three whorls of leaves snipped directly into the bag. (The plants regrow after being decapitated, just like a lawn after mowing.) Then return home and steam a potful for about 2 minutes. Or microwave the rascals on high (add a bit of water; cover the dish with waxpaper). If you haven't cooked them quite long enough, your lips will let you know. The tingling sensation is killed by the cooking, as the wicked witch of the North is killed by water. Don't boil them --it is overkill.
Why bother eating nettles? Getting spinach from the produce stand is much simpler. Simplicity is expedient but scarcely the only consideration. Spinach, like sorrel, should not be eaten in large quantity or frequently because of its high oxalic acid content --overindulgence of which can lead to formation of kidney stones. Gathering nettles also allows city folk to ingest truly wild edibles. Think about it: how many wild edibles do you eat? Seafood? Expensive gourmet mushrooms? A few blackberries? The vast majority of our diet is from domesticated plants and animals. Anthropologists studying human nutrition throughout the world, in both present civilizations and prehistoric times, assert that most people today eat relatively more starchy foods and fewer vitamins, enzymes, minerals and proteins. In other words, we fill our bellies easily but don't nourish our bodies as well as we used to. The development of agriculture went hand in hand with a decline of hunting and gathering subsistence. So eat some nettles for the sake of principle."

It's noon now and I am drinking the other half of my raw soup or blended salad or savory green smoothie. Whatever you want to call it it's DE-licious.

Blended salads can be so great - yum!
It's funny how the meter changes with what you now consider bingeing. I know what you mean ;)
Cheers,
Kristen
It's a great way to get greens without all the sweet fruit.
Cheers, Kristen!
