and I cranked, and cranked and cranked. Whew. then I cranked some more.
Once it seemed like my cranking wasn't having any effect any more, I transferred the ground nuts to a bowl and added some olive oil and mixed it up in the bowl.
I put the rest in a jar in the fridge and use it in smoothies for a creamy consistency and added protein. Not that I think I need more protein on my plant-based, vegan diet, because I do not. In fact I am probably eating too much protein now that I got this dehydrator to experiment with. I'm sure it's just a phase and I will settle into a routine with it, making whatever dried stuff I need, or whatever. I'm still just learning how it all really works and it's fun.
On another note, I went jogging this morning. I like going out when it's still dark. I put my headphones on and listened to Raw Vegan Radio, hosted by Steve Prussack. Time just flies by when I'm listening to people talk about raw food or about chakra meditation and psychic healing. I'm either "yeah, yeah, tell it!" or I'm saying, "bullshit, AAAHHH, propaganda! stop trying to sell, me stuff!" but either way, it always intrigues and manages to illicit a response.

this is funny. i love that little mixer of yours. it's cute. i haven't made my own nut butter, but i really need to.
wow!! i never tryed nut butter, and this sounds like a wonderful way to eat nuts!! since i lost my teef, i cannot eat nuts!!! and i miss that!!! thanks!!
Well, Art, it's just like peanut butter. you can gum that down, can'tcha?
The problem is with commercial peanut butter is that it's made from ROASTED nuts and those are not raw, the life essence has been drained from them and they aren't good building blocks for your body.
But if you can't get it raw, eat roasted, it's better than eating the noble cow or pig or chicken.
It's loaded with protein and even though it's high fat, it's vegetable fat and not as bad as animal fat, that's the guilt free part.
Take care, Art!
