Do you spend this time of year with family and friends?
"this time of year" is just another time of year to me. I was raised as a Pagan and have lived pretty much alone for the past 10 years or so, not doing anything for holidays unless i was invited to someone house.
I am spending this year's holiday season with my BF and his son, living with them for the first time. I guess we will make our own traditions, but xmas means nothing to me and I have no family but my immediate one (bf and son and their family). We have set up a tree and the boy will get some presents but I don't expect anything and will not get anything for anyone else.
Do you celebrate any sort of tradition?
Not unless I'm at someone's house and they are celebrating. I will join in AND be jolly and festive if at all possible
What holidays do you celebrate?
Christmas? Kwanzaa? Festivus? Yule? Something else?
Soltices and equinoxes, mostly but I just notice them, I don't dress up or anything. I might light a candle.
How does food play into it all?
I eat raw vegan first, cooked vegan second. I won't eat at all if there isn't anything for me to eat. It's about the people, not the food.
Does this time of year feel like a chore for you or does it feel good? It feels like a POTENTIAL chore. I was threatened with family coming up for a 2 week visit this year but it was rescinded, thankfully.
Any meetups scheduled? Not that I know of but it ain't over yet, is it?
Any personal favorite healthy holiday recipes?
Not a one. Unless you count my Cruelty-free nog which is nutmilk and bananas and spices
Things you 'look forward to and don't' this time of year?
I look forward to the light displays. I look forward to playing in the snow. I don't look forward to people saying Merry Christmas to me all the time. I don't look forward to the debate over whether or not it's ok to say it or not. I reply, "and a FRUITFUL new year to you! It's my little passive/agressive vegan jab. hehe.
Bonus Question:
What is ahead for you in the rest of 2008, and what are your plans for 2009 and beyond?
Oh boy. The future is always uncertain and I expect the same thing I expect every year: To learn as much as I can and to try to help someone in trouble if I have the chance. I think I might take some raw food prep classes. That's the most definite answer I've got, :)
Bonus Question:
What do you really really want right now? What are you wanting to manifest most? What do you want more than anything? Tell us! We can all be your amplifier to your dreams and help make them come true!
I want to heal so that I can begin to grow in a more positive manner and I want to have a FRUITFUL NEW YEAR.
